History

In the „SCI German Chapter“ discussion was held about the fact that the „SCI Awards“- program allowed for only 16 European species to be taken to reach „the Diamond Level“, when there were over 40 European species available to hunt, at the time, and there was no incentive to hunters to continue pursuing European species after reaching the „SCI Diamond Level“.

To promote hunting in Europe and to enhance the interest in collecting as many European species as possible, therefore having to travel to all corners of the European Continent, a group of SCI friends, together with the Ullmann family decided to create

„The Ullmann Award for European Big Game Trophy Animals“

and made it public during the „Jagen and Fischen Show“ in Erding by Munich, Bavaria-Germany, in April of 1995 !

The Award carries the Ullmann-family name as a tribute to the family’s passion for crystal manufacturing and hunting, that can be traced back to 1635 !

After the closure of the „SCI German Chapter“, 1998, the Ullmann family continued with the Award and renamed it

„The Ullmann Award for European Big Game Trophy Animals Family Foundation i.G.“

All net proceeds from the successful applications are utilized to support European nature conservation projects, based on the Foundation’s motto:

„Nature Conservation through Nature Utilization“
